A little bit about myself. I was born in New Orleans to a fishing family. Some of my earliest and best childhood memories are of pre-dawn drives to the boat launch, buying shrimp for bait and fishing in the bayous and estuaries for Redfish and Speckle Trout. Looking back on it I was really lucky to grow up fishing in such a "Sportsman's Paradise".
When my family got transplanted to Seattle we never got back into fishing. I am not sure why. I occasionally went fishing in lakes for trout and I did have a little lake behind my house where I could catch some perch, which kept me occupied for a couple summers, but I was NOT a fisherman during my teenage years.
Often when we would go back to New Orleans to visit family we would go on fishing trips that rekindled all the childhood excitement I had catching those Redfish! So somehow I kept my love of fishing without really doing it that often.
When a job took me to SE Idaho I thought that it would just be a travesty if I didn't take up fly fishing since I was so close to so many blue ribbon trout streams. That was a year and a half ago and I have been fly fishing ever since. Not as often as I would like, but at least thinking about it! The thing I love about fly fishing is that it gives me the perfect excuse to get outside and spend some time in nature. I also love that I am always thinking about fly fishing while I am fly fishing, and in my brain I have no room to think about anything other than fly fishing when I am on the river. It is zen-like and somewhat meditative for me. It is relaxing. I wish I caught more fish than I do, right now I am just as likely to get skunked as I am to catch anything. But as the old saying goes, "My worst day fishing is better than my best day working!"
That is my fishing history. Other stuff you might find interesting: I love to read, love history and trivia, love music, play sports (almost anything really, but I played volleyball in college and really love soccer, golf, football and basketball), I would love to travel if given the opportunity, I lived in Uruguay for 2 years, and love to watch MMA matches on TV. I manage a restaurant for a living and really enjoy my job. It also gives me the opportunity to get out on the water during the week sometimes when everyone else is stuck in there 9-5! I would be remiss if failed to mention my lovely family. I have a beautiful wife Melissa, and two super cute boys; Carson and James....both aspiring fishermen!
So now that you know where I am coming from hopefully my blogs will have a little more relevance.

Welcome to my Blog!
Well, here I go. One of the main reasons that I am starting this blog is that I just want something to do on my computer! I don't play computer games much anymore and surfing the internet for the latest funny you tube video is getting old. I am also horrible at things like Myspace and Facebook because people get upset when I don't write them back or pay attention to their pages. I am hoping that blogging is a little more one way. I am not anti-social, just bad at things like that. (I also rarely listen to cell phone messages.....call me crazy.)
Another reason I am blogging is that I thought it might be interesting for other people out there who are new to fly fishing or who are just thinking about starting out to have a resource to go to to laugh at, learn with, get ideas from, etc. Considering my new found passion (fly fishing) and my geographic location (SE Idaho....one of the Holy Grails of the fly fishing world!) I thought I could update this blog somewhat regularly with some interesting content.
I guess we'll see!!
